I have a long history with responsive design, back in 2003 a website was designed to work on a desktop PC only. I was always trying new things, learning and reading to become the best web developer I could be. I stumbled across a podcast interview with some guys in London and they were talking about some radical new coding ideas to make a website work on other screen sizes. I took this concept and ran with it. It started out as simply changing image sizes in coding from definitive pixel size to a percentage of the screen width. This was revolutionary at the time, I even won a few web design awards back then for the practice.
Fast forward 7 years later to 2010 and “Responsive Design” became an industry standard. We of course were ahead of the curve and have remained that way.
Why is Responsive Design Important?
Responsive design allows your website to display across many different-sized screens and devices, including desktops, tablets, and mobile phones.
With responsive design, your site becomes flexible. It adapts to different screen sizes and browsers, giving visitors access to a single content source. And it is laid out to be easily read and navigated with minimal resizing, panning, or scrolling.
